International Film Series

Explore the world from the Downtown Huntsville Library with our International Film Series.  Each month we will be highlighting a new country with a film from our international media collection.  This month we are showing My Neighbor Totoro.  Released in 1988 by Studio Ghibli, My Neighbor Totoro tells the story of two young girls who move to the country to be near their ailing mother there they have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby.  Exploring themes such as animism, Shinto symbology, environmentalism and the joys of rural living, the film has won numerous awards and widespread praise from critics and audiences alike.
