In the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, the young stepdaughter of a brutal Francoist officer must face a series of magical trials in the hopes of fulfilling a fairy tale prophecy.
Directed by future Best Director winner Guillermo Del Toro, Pan's Labyrinth won Academy Awards for Best Art Direction, Cinematography, and Makeup and is the best reviewed film released between 2000 and 2009 on Metacritic.
