Having fallen under the influence of a rogue martial artist, the daughter of a powerful Qing dynasty official breaks bad and steals a legendary sword. Two warriors, each secretly in love with the other, attempt to track her down and recover the sword as the thief finds herself torn between loyalty, love, and the liberating, intoxicating power of martial arts.
Directed by Ang Lee and starring Michelle Yeoh, Chow Yun-fat, and Zhang Ziyi, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is considered one of the greatest wuxia* films of all time and was the winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 73rd Academy Awards.
