Twilight Zone Day
Wednesday, October 2, 2024 9:30 a.m. – 7:45 p.m.
On Friday, October 2, 1959, The Twilight Zone premiered on CBS. The anthology program, created by award-winning television writer Rod Serling, presented weekly morality tales wherein regular people found themselves thrust into some fantastic situation or dilemma. Described as "TV's last angry man," Serling and his writers created a world where dolls came to deadly life, a young child could wield ultimate power over all the adults, aliens regularly visited the planet and men were given the opportunity to return to their youth. The original series ran for 5 seasons, ending in 1964. Serling wrote or adapted 92 of the original series' 156 episodes. (The Twilight Zone has returned over the decades for new generations to experience, most recently by Jordan Peele.)
To celebrate The Twilight's Zone's 65th Anniversary, we invite you to join us on October 2, 2024, 65 years to the day of its premiere, for a full day of Twilight Zone screenings. Beginning at 9:30 a.m., the auditoriums will be open for random back-to-back episodes of the The Twilight Zone with a half hour break between episodes. You can swing by on lunch and take in an episode or two, or hang out all day and watch ten back-to-back episodes. Then, that evening, at 6:30 p.m., we will watch the three most popular episodes as voted by HMCPL patrons throughout the summer.
