Global Ties Alabama will host the mobile exhibit “United States Diplomacy: From Its Beginnings to Today” from March 10 to March 21 at the South Huntsville Public Library, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and the Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville. This 21-banner exhibit, which highlights the role diplomacy has played in American history from the revolutionary War to the present, was created by the Arlington, Virginia-based Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training (ADST) with the support of the Una Chapman Cox Foundation. Visitors learn how diplomats helped win American freedom and expand the country’s borders, navigated through wars, negotiated years of peace, and are now addressing the foreign policy challenges of the 21st century to make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous. The exhibit is touring the United States throughout 2025 and is being featured in libraries, high schools, colleges, conferences, and special events. Permanent versions of this exhibit are on display at the State Department’s Foreign Service Institute and the Defense Department’s National Defense University.
The exhibit’s tour is part of a larger ADST initiative known as the “Century of Service”, an effort to share firsthand accounts of diplomats from across the United States who have ensured the nation’s security, strength, and prosperity through service to American citizens, businesses, workers, and farmers.
