Forgotten Classics is back from the dead with Andromeda Strain (1971). This film is rated G. Top scientists work feverishly in a secret, state-of-the-art laboratory to discover what killed the citizens of a small town and how the deadly contagion can be stopped. Based off of a Michael Crichton novel, this film is is noted by the Infectious Diseases Society of America that The Andromeda Strain is the "most significant, scientifically accurate, and prototypic of all films of this [killer virus] genre ... it accurately details the appearance of a deadly agent, its impact, and the efforts at containing it, and, finally, the work-up on its identification and clarification on why certain persons are immune to it." Despite it's accuracy and awards nominations this film is rarely brought up today.
