Horror Hangout
Wednesday, September 16, 2026 6 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.
Are you a fan of ghosts, ghouls, and things that go bump in the night? This could be the club for you! Horror Hangout is Downtown's club for horror aficionados. More than just a book club, this group for adult horror fans will discuss films, crafts, books, and more, with a different theme for each month.
Join us this month to discuss the beloved horror writer, Shirley Jackson. Shirley Jackson (1916 -1965) wrote six novels, two memoirs, and more than 200 stories. In 1948, Jackson gained significant public attention for her short story, "The Lottery," which presents the sinister underside of a bucolic American village. Her later novels, The Haunting of Hill House (1959) and We Have Always Lived in the Castle (1962) cemented Jackson's reputation in the horror genre. She would go on to influence many writers including Neil Gaiman and Stephen King.
Horror Hangout meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6pm.
