The write-for-hire market is a sometimes-overlooked path to breaking into the publishing industry. This presentation will give an overview of basic questions like "what is write-for-hire" and "how do I even get started" to the next steps such as researching potential publishers, putting together a resume (the most fun resume you'll ever write!), and crafting stand-out submissions. Ideal for people interested in writing for children, but will include ideas for writers of adult fiction and nonfiction as well.

Heather C. Morris is the USA Today bestselling author of multiple books for kids, including the picture books, Trunk Goes Thunk! A Woodland Tale of Opposites  and Backyard Stew, a middle-grade ghost story in the Haunted States of America Anthology, and the upcoming release, Dribble, Shoot, Swish: A Basketball Story (March 2027). She is an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and has written seven titles for the educational market.

TIME: 11:00am - 12:00am

LOCATION: Technology Training Center classroom, on the 3rd floor
