The Quiet Girl (Ireland, 2022)
When a shy and neglected young girl is sent to stay with her much older distant cousin and her husband at a farm in the Irish countryside, she finds herself a part of a loving family for the first time.
The Quiet Girl was based on the short story “Foster” by Claire Keegan and written and directed by Colm Bairéad. Filmed almost entirely in Irish Gaelic, it is the first Irish film to be nominated for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards and also won Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress (for Catherine Clinch, its then 11-year-old lead) at the 18th Irish Film & Television Awards.
All Happy Familes Are Alike – An International Film Series
