Southern Galactic Sun Ra Fest!

Southern Galactic is a multidisciplinary event honoring founding Afrofuturist Sun Ra and his connections to "The Rocket City" Huntsville. The event is produced by Huntsville visual artists Jahni Moore and Willoughby Lucas Hastings and is scheduled for May 19th - May 22nd, 2023. Southern Galactic will include history and aeronautics presentations, public workshops, musical performances, an outdoor walking parade, and a screening of John Coney, Joshua Smith, and Sun Ra's film Space is the Place, as well as contemporary Afrofuturist visual artist Cauleen Smith's video performance Space, is the Place: A March for Sun Ra.
