The Southside Mills: Merrimack & Lowe Mills and Their Place in Huntsville’s History

The production of textiles was the economic engine that drove Huntsville’s economy for decades during the early 20^th Century. Join us as we explore the two huge mills that operated in the suburb of West Huntsville. Merrimack was the largest mill in Madison County and had a long successful history. As Merrimack Mill & Huntsville Manufacturing Company. Lowe’s operations were economically troubled and it was the first major mill to close. However,  its place in Huntsville history is preserved as a major arts center. Join presenter David Lilly as he explores the fascinating history of these two important business establishments.
