July’s second film will be from the 80s: Dead Poets Society
Dead Poets Society is a 1989 American drama film directed by Peter Weir and written by Tom Schulman. The film stars Robin Williams as John Keating, an unorthodox English teacher at the conservative Welton Academy who inspires his students to think independently and embrace the power of literature. Through poetry, self-expression, and a revived secret society, Keating challenges the boys to seize the day and find their own voices, even as they face intense academic pressure and rigid expectations. Known for its emotional depth and themes of individuality, conformity, and the impact of great teachers, the film remains a powerful and enduring coming-of-age classic.
