Workshop: Finding Trusted Food & Nutrition Information

Help us welcome Alan Backer as he shares this useful and timely free workshop! We will discuss tips on how to assess the quality and trustworthiness of nutrition websites, then visit a number of easily-accessible consumer health websites that feature reliable and credible food and nutrition information. You will gain insight on how to navigate these websites so that you can discover health and nutrition information that will be relevant to your personal health journey.
Alan Backer is the Director of J. Ellis Sparks Medical Library at the UAB Huntsville Regional Medical Campus. He began his career in librarianship as a Library Assistant at the HMCPL Bailey Cove Branch Library before earning a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Alabama. After completing his studies, he joined the Sparks Medical Library, where he has served in his current role since 2015.
