Author and artist Laura Patrick will be at the South Huntsville branch to discuss historical quilt making using the "quilt that raised the roof" Trinity Historical quilt, the Harrison Brothers quilt and the Hobbs Crazy Quilt Art Museum among others. An accomplished quilt maker, Laura Patrick is also the author of "Heart for a Hero".

Quilt making, fabric arts and fiber arts are some of the most vibrant forms of folk art. Quilting is part of a larger fiber arts revival in the last few decades, and the "quilt that raised the roof" at Trinity First Methodist United Methodist Historical quilt is an example of a local historical documentation project of Huntsville and Alabama. The quilt will be on display at the event and individual panels will be examined for their artistry along with other historical quilt examples.
