Genealogy Junior Week 1

Genealogy Junior is a 3-week cumulative series in October, celebrating Family History Month. It is geared toward ages 8 and over. Parents are required to attend to aid in accessing internet resources (Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.com, history sites, etc.).

October 16
Knowledge-building: What is genealogy and using online ancestry resources
Activity: Starting a family tree (we'll provide materials)

October 23
Knowledge-building: Discuss what migration and/or ocean crossing was like and use online resource to explore cultural elements of an ancestor's nationality 
Activity: Make a paper doll into your ancestor (we'll provide materials)

October 30 - Show and Tell!
Knowledge-building: Learn from other students in the class where their ancestors came from
Activity: Come with a poster made at home to showcase all the information you learned (we'll provide materials)
