In Conversation with Bob Fuerst

More than 421,000 Americans lost their lives during World War II, and each of their stories is worth preserving and sharing. Bob Fuerst, a local NASA engineer and the Alabama State Director of the Stories Behind the Stars Project, is dedicating himself to the task of documenting the stories of all 6,300 Alabama WWII casualties. Through his efforts, these heroes’ legacies will live on, ensuring that their sacrifices are remembered and honored for generations to come.
