If you’ve applied to a job within the last ten years, you’ve probably seen the word “cover letter” floating around on job applications and job search websites, like Indeed. While many places don’t necessarily require a cover letter for application, it’s a little known fact that most jobs want an attached cover letter with your résumé and may even pass over you in the initial candidate survey if you don’t have one. Just like a standout résumé can get your foot in the door, an effective cover letter can be the key between getting the interview or passed over.
