This is an online class covering the ins and outs of writing a cover letter. Register here.

If you’ve applied to a job within the last ten years, you’ve probably seen the word “cover letter” floating around on job applications and job search websites, like Indeed. While many places don’t necessarily require a cover letter for application, it’s a little known fact that most jobs want an attached cover letter with your résumé and may even pass over you in the initial candidate survey if you don’t have one. Just like a standout résumé can get your foot in the door, an effective cover letter can be the key between getting the interview or passed over. In this course, we will talk about what a cover letter is, why they’re important, what information to include, how to structure and address a cover letter, and why you should never send a generic cover letter to any potential employer.
