Hitchcock’s problematic treatment of some of his women actors has come under increasing scrutiny in recent years. However, his films include many strong and intriguing women characters, albeit, usually trapped in the midst of great danger.

We’ll explore the roles of women in some of his most acclaimed films. This Week: Rebecca (1940) Joan Fontaine, Laurence Olivier, Judith Anderson. Three women (one dead) struggle for control of Manderley.
