Thinking he had put that life behind him forever, a chance recognition causes a former private investigator to get pulled back into the web of intrigue he first stumbled into when a crime boss hired him to track down the alluring girlfriend who shot him.
Based on the novel Build My Gallows High by Daniel Mainwaring, directed by Jacques Tourneur, and starring Robert Mitchum and Kirk Douglas, Out of the Past is now considered to be one of the handful of all-time best film noirs.
Bad Romance: A Film Series
A trio of crime films where love ain’t what it’s cracked up to be: an Academy Award winning musical set in a Roaring Twenties prison, a classic film noir, and a fictionalized retelling of an infamous crime spree. Valentine’s Day is next month; this month love doesn’t pay.
