Billy Wilder was one of the great directors of classic Hollywood. Over a 30 year career his movies won numerous awards and critical acclaim. This year we're taking an in-depth look at his storied career. Part One will look at the early films of Wilder as he establishes himself as an acclaimed moviemaker.
In his directorial debut, The Major and the Minor (1944), a frustrated city girl disguises herself as a youngster in order to get a cheaper train ticket home. But little "Sue Sue" finds herself in a whole heap of grown-up trouble when she hides out in a compartment with a handsome Major.
