Bad Romance: A Film Series

The Night of the Hunter (1955) [Not Rated]
The widow of a bank robber catches the eye of a charismatic traveling preacher, only to realize too late he is not remotely what he seems.
Based on the novel of the same name by Davis Grubb (itself based on the career of a real-life criminal), The Night of the Hunter stars Robert Mitchum and Shelley Winters, was directed by the legendary actor Charles Laughton, and features a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winner James Agee. A critical and commercial failure when it was released, it is now generally considered one of the greatest films ever made and its villain among the best – or rather, the very worst – ever seen on screen.
Bad Romance: A Film Series
A trio of crime films where love ain’t what it’s cracked up to be: an Academy Award winning musical set in a Roaring Twenties prison, a classic film noir, and a fictionalized retelling of an infamous crime spree. Valentine’s Day is next month; this month love doesn’t pay.
